Need opinions on best snow tires besides Blizzaks?

I like the way Blizzaks go through snow, no complaints there BUT they don't wear very well and after 4 seasons, they're a tad bit out of round and choppy(steering wheel shakes slightly, NOT balance or bent wheels).
I have a dedicated set of steels wheels with mounted snows and only use them during the few months when snow's actually on the roads as I know I'll kill the Blizzaks on warmer, dry roads.

So, this time I'd like something that does as well in snow yet holds up better w/o problems.

Opinions?

Try Gislaveds Frost. They handle pretty well on dry roads and wear evenly, expect about ~40k total miles from them.
Four seasons are pushing it for any tire. after about 3-4 yrs, any tire's rubber starts to degrade, from sun, heat and weather exposure.

True, Blizzaks don't last. I get rid of mine after 3 winters regardless of the miles they have on them because by that time they look like crap regardless of balancing or aligning or rotating. If you look at a new set of Blizzaks the rubber looks like its made out of sponge rubber. As it wears down the rubber keeps exposing more air cells which is where the wear comes from (and the grip on icy roads). If you run them down enough you'll run out of the soft rubber into a harder compound and at that time they're just a crap all-season tire.

I have used many different brands of snows here in the best damn laboratory in the USA: BUFFALO NY. Blizzaks are it for me and all my friends. You can try Michelin Alpins, which have an interesting patented wear-enhanced tread, but all good snows are, by design, made from sponge ! You don't want to run summer low-pro alloys in the salt anyway

        ............ Blizzaks!

So then, another set of Blizzaks is perhaps my best option? They are great in snow, no doubt. Apparently 3 (winter only) seasons is about the most one can expect.
        Thanks guys
