Recently my cd player that came with my volvo 850 has been malfunctioning where every so often it will have trouble reading a burned cd or the cartridge will pop out and i have to jam something in the crack of the door to push it back in. However, now on the audio system screen it says E as if the cartridges are empty, but i have 6 cds in there, one still in the actual player. The eject button is not working and i can't get the cartridge out, but the door does open. How can i fix this problem? To take it to the dealership would probably be extremely overpriced.

Put a credit card under the cartridge ,push it in about 2 inches.
The cartridge should pop out .
Empty the cartridge and put it back in empty .
Turn the radio on and off a couple of times to reset and you should be ok .
These players are touchy ,especially with homemade cd's .
Test by only loading one cd .

Thank you. That worked to get the cartridge out, however there is still a cd stuck in the actual player, not the cartridge. And the message still reads E-01, even when I tested with just one cd in the cartridge. It seems that first cd is causing some problem.

Try leaving a blank cartridge in there and turning it on and off a couple of times .
That works sometimes .
Also try to disconnect your CD fuse and reconnect.
I ended up taking the unit apart to get it out .
Which I would only recommend as a last resort .
This was a lousy designed unit.

I just bought an 94 850 turbo and it had two cd's stuck in the player itself. I tried everything to get them out but i ended up dissassemling and reassmebling it works fine now. ONly problem is trying to get all the parts back together the origan way. Just be careful and dont break anything. again this is your very last option though you could really screw it up.
