High rev at cold start 850 1997

I'm experiencing or start to notice a high rev at cold start that last 4 to 5 seconds then goes normal. Is there a fault here like air leak from intake, exhaust or air pump? I've had this car for quite a time now and does not even remember if it was already having this high rev before.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The reason the engine does this..it runs at roughly 1500 or 1800 rpm and then settles back down to idle..is that, if the car is cold, then it will run rich for the first few seconds until the computer compensates and corrects for the actual need, and then the idle speed settles to normal.

Every car I have ever had does this. When the engine is warm, the rpms don't rise as much or at all.

When did you last clean your throttle body?

Hi, I cleaned the TB 2 months ago and even had to replace TB sensor or switch. I also changed the idle motor last year.

      Thanks.

I have the same problem. I don't think it always did this. My wife is beginning to complain about this so I would be interested in what other brickboard members say as to what it might be.

Could it have to do with the idle control motor?

    Thanks
