S60 and S60R problems S60

I am thinking about getting a new S60R and wanted to inquire about
any problems folks might have had with the S60 in general and with
the R. The last new Volvo I had was a '95 850 Turbo. Great car, put
150K+ miles on it, but I had a lot of issues (trim problems, O2 sensor failures, motor mount issues, shock trouble, susp. mounting point trouble, etc., etc.). Lots of dealer trips an $$$. Better with the newer 60 series? Any specific issues on the R that are troublesome? Thanks.

S60 and S60R problems S60

I have an S60R with 9K miles on it. I love it. Awesome car. Quality has been good so far. The navigation systems is worth it's weight in gold. I got everything, but the Homelink & built in phone. The sports package adds a great & unique look with the ground effects. Be carefull near the curbs & watch the potholes. Expect to pay for a set of winter tires.

S60 and S60R problems S60

We have a 2004 S60R with 7700 miles. Only issue is tire feathering which no one has been able to correct yet, despite repeated alignments. Dealer and factory say not bad and are doing nothing.

S60 and S60R problems S60

I would go for the S60 T5 Sport edition (with the styling kit) it looks more sporty than S60 R and the price is much cheaper with almost the same performance. 2WD vehicle als consume less fuel than 4WD vehicles.

Anyway, if you go for the S60 R, you must know that the automatic gearbox gives you very little fun for that money, it has reduced tourque to a level even the low pressure turbo can match. The reason is that if engine have all the power without any reduction in tourque, the automatic gearbox will get broken very quickly, it is not built for high performace engines like used in R.

If you want to have all the power, then go for the manual transmission, 6 gears, but your hand has to work with the dipstick all the time.
The reduction in tourque is only at lower speeds you can still use the automatic gearbox to overtake some other cars at the highway without problems!

My recommendations above is only if you intend to drive the S60 R as if it was a racing car. Normal driving conditions requires no high performance take offs and the automatic gearbox may be good enough, but just be aware of it before you buy it so you dont get disapointed when you get the car from dealer....
However S60 R is extremely nice interior with soft leather all over.... Its a prestige car impressing all your neightbors!

S60 and S60R problems S60

I have an S60 2001. To date, no significant problems. Just had to have my electronic throttle module replaced, which was a common warrantied item which seems to break down. I also have a good relationship with the main dealer/service centre here in Malaysia. Feedback from them is that the S60 has been the most problem-free Volvo model to date
