Hello, I would appreciate if someone can enlighten about the fuel pump
relay on a 96 850 wagon. A friend told me over the weekend that there are 2 fuel pump relays. one on the relay/fuse box in front of the driver. And another one on top of the radiator shroud. If true w/c one is the fuel pump relay? Thank you and God Bless!

Yes, there are two relays that affect fuel delivery. The "true" fuel pump relay is the one in the fuse panel in front of the driver. The "main" relay, or "system" relay is the one that is black and sits atop the radiator. Either one of these failing will result in you going no where fast. Often times the insulation that surrounds the wires inside the connector to the system relay falls apart and the wires touch. Obviously, this will mimick a bad system relay. If you are having a problem, look there first. I've only replaced fuel pump relays on 93, 94, and a few 95's. No 1996's as yet, so it's a bit early for a failure.

No, there's only the fuel pump relay there just above the row of fuses (same box under the hood in front of the driver...). The number 2 fuse goes to the fuel pump too. The relays up front over the radiator are for the cooling fan. If you posted your email when you registered I would send you the chapter out of the shop manual that describes the fuse and relay locations.
