What dealer has the best prices for making a key on a 95 (laser cut) no transponder? None of our local locksmiths have such a machine and our dealer wants $42!! Can I just call a dealer with my VIN to have it made? Sounds too easy.

    Some dealers have equipment to make aftermarket keys at a considerable savings. I had two keys made at a local dealer for $15.00 each, a huge savings from the $42 you mention.

    Usually you have to go down to the dealer with your registration and a photo ID and they'll order you a new key. They're pricey. While you're there get a spare to leave at home or hide on the car, because like you said: you can't just go to a local locksmith on a Sunday afternoon and get one made.
