If the auto trans is slipping will it set a fault code? 850 1993

I believe my transmission is fine, it has 92k, but I an curious if it starts to slip, will it set a code.

Hi Anton

There are codes relating to the transmission such as PnP switch and transmission oil temperature.

Have a look at a Haynes manual or Volvospeed for what codes can be set and what they mean, this will give you an idea of how and what is monitored.

My own 93 model has done 151,000 miles on the auto tranny and it still goes great!!

Interesting question! Technically "No". But anything that affects the emmisions specs of the car will trigger a code and trigger the "check engine" lamp. If the transmission is not performing to spec and inturn causes the engine to labour or run erratic, then the transmission has been known to trigger the "check engine" lamp.
