Installing Fog Lights...switch already present V70-XC70

Okay, I've heard that there needs to be a software download to get the computer to recognize Fog Lights. Is this still the case if the fog light switch is already installed and the instrument panel fog light indicator lights when the switch is depressed? The only thing missing seems to be the actual lights.
Any information will be appreciated.

Installing Fog Lights...switch already present V70-XC70

I am looking into this for my wife's 2004 V70. The switch seems to need an upgrade but not replacement. There is a software download for the computer that recognizes the lights and coordinates them with the other lights. Wiring is in place. Let us know how it goes if you do it yourself.

Depending on the year of the vehicle, all you need is to hook up the front fog lights, get a switch for the cluster, and install a relay. I would suggest checking out www.volvospeed.com and doing a search on "fog light" in the FWD/AWD forum.

The other switch you are referring to is, as indicated earlier, for the left side rear brake light, to make it brighter for the cars behind you to see you better.

Do you have 2 fog light switches? V70-XC70

Volvos come with a rear fog light and it's switch is right next to the headlight switch. Front fog lights require another switch, if your car didn't come with them already installed. I have never heard of a computer mod for adding for lights in the front, sounds like you have been talking to too many wives.

Make sure your rear fog light works, it's in the driver's side tail light cluster. Next to the brake light. It is actually the same size bulb as the brake light. Try only to use the rear fogs on really foggy days/nights. They are very bright to those following you and drivers assume you have your left foot on the brakes.
