OK, plan on 4-5 hrs work if this is your first time. took me about 6. i replaced the serp belt also. bay 13 instructions are real nice but this is where i differ. take the serp belt off (remember its route) first. when you get the timing cover off mark all the timing marks with white chalk. the one one the crankshaft sprocket is no bigger than a flea (no schizt!). once you get the old timing belt totally loose and are getting ready to work the belt off of the crankshaft sprocket and under the crankshaft pulley just stop and cut the old timing belt in half. the cut should be to the left of the crahshaft sprocket and pulley. the old belt can then be pulled from the right side of the crankshaft toward the radiator very easily and once the old belt is loose you can have it totally off in 10 min. when putting the new belt on do not start on the right side of the crankshaft pulley but start on the left side of the crankshaft pulley and sprocket. make sure that the new belt is perpindicular to the ground when starting it under the crankshft pulley . when the edge of the belt hits the crankshaft sprocket turn it horizontally toward the engine and it will slip right on. BE SURE THAT THE NEW BELT IS ABSOLUTELY TIGHT ON THE RIGHT SIDE (from the crank sprocket to the intake sprocket) BEFORE YOU PUT THE TENSIONER BACK ON OR TRY TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER. BE SURE TO TURN THE ENGINE 2 REVOLUTIONS BEFOR YOU START IT TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO PISTON-VALVE INTERFERENCE. put the serp belt on last and then crank her up. if you replace an old style serp belt with a new one, the new one is longer and has a diff. route. good luck. mike
