when do I replace the timing belt tensioner 850 1995

I am getting ready to replace my TB (128k and I dont know the history) Do I need to replace the tensioner as well? They are $150! Has any one used those "locks " to keep the cams from moving during install - is it that helpful?

Thanks!

Hello,

See recent post:

I'd change it at 120K.
Also change the pulley, beraing known to be unreliable after 120K.

If any of the following fails, the engine is potentially damaged:
-TB itself
-tensioner
-pulley

Check fcp groton for prices:

I know the tensioner sounds like alot but it is little compared with a blown engine at $3-4K repair bill.
