Shift Knob Removal S70 1998

Does anyone out there know how to remove the 5speed shift knob on a 1998 70' series. I cant seem to find any info on this. Is it connected to the shift boot? I dont see any set screws or mounting hardware. It also doesnt seem like it wants to unscrew or pull off (maybee im not tugging hard enought) Any help would be apreciated.

Shift Knob Removal S70 1998

The shift knob on my 98 S70 was attached to the shifter. I swapped out my shifter for a short shift kit and had to literally destory the shift knob to get it off. I don't think you can pull it off.

Turn the leather boot 1/4 turn counterclokwise and release from the shift knob.

You need to sit in a way you're over the knob and pull hardstraight up, no screws, just brutal force.
