hello fine folks,
a friends 850 has fuel leaking on to the starter from a vacume modulator that is right below and almost behind the intake manafold on front of engine...darn near blew up on him..starter is fried also, i am guessing from gas driping on it. Not a pretty picture! Has any one else seen this, looks like presure valve on fuel injection rail, but not main presure relief valve..I work on older rear whell drive volvos, not too much with 850 series,,any help???

If the pressure valve that you are talking about looks like a Schrader valve (like on a tire}, that's there so you can check fuel pressure and releave fuel pressure before you work on your fuel system. Make sure that the engine is cold before your releave any pressure. I haven't noticed one on my S70, but I had a similar setup on a Corvette that I once owned.

Fuel pressure regulator has gone, it is not holding vacuum as it is leaking fuel past its internal membrane, very dangerous, so don't hesitate getting it fixed! Or the seal for the FPR has gone.

What is your mileage??

The thing I see right above the starter is the EGR valve, but it wouldn't have fuel in it. The leak would have to be in the fuel rail or regulator. Is this thing leaking and the fuel is somehow running over to a spot above the starter and dripping down?

'95 850T

My 850 is spewing an uncontrolled amount of fuel out some of the injectors. I replaced the seals but it continues. Do you think the FPR could be stuck so it's not letting any fuel back out to the tank? Thanks
