Which one is it? S70

Howdy all!

I recently ruptured a disc(L5), long story short, it's no fun and would not recommend it to anyone:)

Anyhow, I have a '98 S70 T5 and she rides very harsh on bumpy roads. I unfortunately live in Southern NJ and the roads are very bad here and I get a bad beating so does my bad disc.

Was wondering what is causing the harsh ride. Is it:
1. The factory springs for a T5?
2. Does it have oversize stabalizer bars?
3. The Michellin MXV4s(205/55/R16), read reviews somewhere that these tires transmit alot of vibrations and road noise, has anyone heard the same?

Just try to minimize trama to my disc. The docs have told me not to run(bc of the harsh vibrations), not to sit too long, etc. I sure the harshness/jolting from driving my volvo is not helping my disc out. Just trying to see if I can soften the ride some without having to buy a caddy:)

Thanks in advance gents!
Regards,
Yo Han

Are you on the original struts and front mounts? If yes and more than 60K, I garontee the mounts are toast and mebbe the struts too. These will both make a huge difference in the bump response.

After that, consider going to a 15" wheel and higher profile tire, H rated or lower. The lower the speed rating, the softer the sidewall. The taller tire on the 15" wheel will also filter more road shock. Save the 16" wheels and when your back is better, you have summer and winter wheel.

But only after the shock mounts and shocks. Real beeg difference there.

Thanks for the response Norman!
Yes, the front and rear strust have been replaced with adjustable Koni's which I have on the softest setting now. Sure they don't help also, but I hope I can do something else to reduce the bumpy ride.

You think I can get another size/rating tire on the 16" that will make a ride difference? Trying to not spend too much, but the treads are need change soon.

Thanks again!
