resetting 2000 check engine light on V70 xc se wagon V70-XC70 2000

Last message bit brief. Car just passed smog and last night check engine light came on. Car has 47+k miles, doubt it O sensor. Found gas cap loose from last fill. tightened, did not help. Is there a way to reset with out going to dealer?

Thanks,
Curtis

Auto Zone does NOT reset in all states such as MA. Disconnect your battery for a couple of minutes. Remember you will need your radio code and will also need to reset your clock.

Radio code? whats that? It a theft deterent. V70-XC70 2000

whenever power is lost, the radio thinks it was removed. Once that happens, the radio code must be entered to get the radio to operate again. It should be on a wallet size card that came with the manual, warrnaty books, etc. If you don't have it, you can most likely get it from your freindly volvo dealer for free if you have proof of ownership.
