help iwith installing trunk lifters 850 1996

Hello,

I am replacing the trunk lifters on my '96 850 GLT. I am having problems getting the body side of the left trunk lifter to seat onto the bar. What steps did you all take to accomplish this task? Thanks in advance.

I used a 1X1 piece of wood about 2ft long to push down the plastic piece.
