Lexol vs. Leatherique 850

I own a 97 850, leather seats are in decent shape, showing some signs of cracking, but it's not too bad right now and I'd like to prevent them from deteriorating further. I live at 5,280 feet with dry air, so it may be more of a challenge than in other places.

I've been using Lexol cleaner and conditioner about 3 times a year, and it seems to work well. But I'm wondering whether I should switch to Leatherique. Has anybody tried both products and found one to be much better than the other?

I've been to the Leatherique website, but it's not very useful for comparisons to Lexol.

Thanks.

I use the Mothers leather cleaner, followed by their conditioner, has worked pretty well for me.

My father swears by saddle soap, started using it in all his Corvettes back in the 60's and on everything since. Haven't had a chance to try it yet, but if it can protect a horse saddle, which is exposed to direct sun, dust, dirt and grime, then it should do wonders for car seats.

Best stuff I've ever used (and still use) is a product called saddle soap.
You can get it from any tack shop or equestrian supply shop.
It goes on as a paste, is clear, and moisturizes and protects your leather.
You need to apply it @ 4 times a year.

    P.E.

I've used Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil and Prestine Clean with good results.

Some cracking and loss of color is inevitable because of the way the leather is dyed. If it's bad they make a crack filler and custom dye that is fairly easy for the DIYer to do.

With either product the key is regular maintenance.

I use Lexol cleaner and conditioner. They work great. I spray the conditioner on the leather and smooth it out. I just let mine just air dry after that to make sure the conditioner gets into the leather. I also use it on my leather furniture in the house.

        msestina,

Just go to the website: www.leatherique.com

Look under "Products" and you'll find "Leather Dye" and "Crack Filler."

You can order from the site as well. I think that Volvo owners get a discount .

        Be sure to ask.

        Bryan
