Check engine light V70-XC70 1999

The low coolant senser is not working. I jumpered the low coolant senser and the low coolant light went out. After running the engine approx ten minutes the check engine light came on and will not go off. Can a low coolant signal trigger the check engine light?
Thank you

Generally the check engine light is emissions related. Each time mine has come on I immediately go and tighten the gas cap. The light then takes about 3 to 4 cold cycles to go out. Each time it's gone out. Check your gas cap and tighten it. About 3 days from now the light should go out.

Thank you. I found the problem, replace the timing belt and got it one tooth off. Very difficult to see the timing marks on the crankshaft gear. discovered two adjacent teeth have very tiny "V" cutouts in them, these must be lined up on either side of a very hard to distinguish mark mounted on the engine side of the crankshaft gear. engine runs nicely one cog off in either direction, however the CEL does come on after about ten minutes. Hopes this helps some other DIYer.

Next time use some white out to mark marks.

Thanks. I did use whiteout on the overhead cam gears, but couldnt reach the metal plate that has the timing mark on it for the crankshaft gear.
But I can attest to the fact that great minds run in the same channels.
Thanks again
