Another Run at Replacement Antennae S70

I've searched the archive here with no luck. My 99 S70M was recently hit and run on the driver's side rear panel just before the taillight. I'm not going to submit an insurance claim because the weasels will only raise my rates. A full repair will be close to $2K and driving in the city, the car has many dings and scuffs. I have banged the dent out from the inside and bolted the bumper back in place. The power antenna is still messed up.

The antenna has always been finicky and I would like to just replace it with some kind of whip or surdy fixed mast. Any ideas or suggestions for a part and procedure?

Most auto supply stores sell fixed masts. FCP Groton may have one, too. Why not just pull up the power one and disconnect the electrics?
