Volvo 850 Supsension 850 1993

I have a 1993 Volvo 850. I'm thinking about putting on new shocks and struts and lowering springs. For the shocks/struts I was thinking about going for the Bilstein Touring Class. For the springs I was planning on either Eibach or the set that FCP Groton carries. Anyone have anyone have any thoughts or experience with these?

Thanks
Ross

I just put all new shocks and struts in my '93. I went with the OEM Sachs units, got them from FCP Groton. My opinion, since the '93 was not a turbo and is no where near what I would consider a performance oriented car (handling and braking are decent, just not acceleration), I wasn't going to bother going hog wild on suspension upgrades since I don't drive the car that way. Lets face it, without the turbo the car is an absolute dog. Plus it's my daily driver, not my toy, so as long as it rides comfortable and smooth thats all I cared about, that and not breaking the bank on replacement parts. Truth be said, I am very satisfied with the ride quality, and even the handling, of the Sachs units. Also, I've heard, but can't confirm, that the Bilstein touring units aren't even made by Bilstein, they are produced by someone else for them. If someone would confirm this I would appreciate it. Some have said they didn't like them. If they were the same price as the OEM stuff I'd say go for it. If they are more money, which from most sellers they are by about 10-20 bucks, I'd say save it and go with the OEM, because from what I've read it doesn't sound like they are better performing shocks than Sachs, so why spend the extra cash just to get the Bilstein name. If you want a really performance oriented shock go with the Bilstein HD's or, better yet, Koni adjustables. Just be prepared for the harsher ride the HD's will bring, and of course the price increase. If someone has experience with direct comparison of the Bilstein touring versus the Sachs that might help you more.
