non dealership replacement parts S70

Am looking for some direction in this matter. My wife has the unfortunate habit of closing the door of her S70 on the seat belt latch. This has resulted in the latch being crushed into the red inside door light lense and subsequently chipping/cracking it. This then results in a significant rattle in the door. Volvo did replace this one time while under warranty, but i remember the total would have been quite a bit. Is there a reputable outlet to aquire this part and how difficult would the installation be. Appreciate any sugguestions. thanks

The dealer laughed when I told him my little red lense broke, said that the seat belt caused it and that would be $40 bucks, no please. So I went home and glued the little sucker together and then glued it to the door. A little Goop goes a long way. Then I took the plastic off the seatbelt retractor cover and sprayed it with lubricant. I wish I knew enough to take the retractor out and increase the spring tensioner too. I also waxed the scratches in the door panel where the seatbelt bent the sheet metal.

I've cracked that little light three times. It takes only a couple minutes to replace, and the dealers generally have plenty in stock since it is a very common problem.

I bought two of these red lamps at www.vlvworld.com recently - Can't remember for sure, but I think they were about $20 each - not sure how that compares with dealer prices. Very easy to change yourself - once you see the new replacement lamp, it's obvious how they snap into place, and how to removed them.

This is exactly what happened with my first V70. The seat belt does not retract fast enough and not only can it crack the courtesy light, but can deform the door material itself! The second time the lens cracked, I bought a replacement from the dealer and installed it myself. It's intuitive to replace and if I recall, your service manual tells you how to replace the bulb, which shows the proper way to remove the red lens. Good luck!
