Engine mounts V70-XC70 1998

Hi all, My V70 has about 75k miles and I need to replace the torque arm engine mount soon - rubber is cracked and starting to disintegrate. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to consider replacing the other engine mounts at this time also. Bay 13 shows the procedure for replacing the right side mount. Does anybody know if the other three mounts typically need replacement, and there are any write-ups knocking about? TIA, -Daire

I would replace the upper and lower engine torque rods and the right mount below the crankshaft pulley. I recently replaced all 3 on my 1999 V70R at 80,000 miles. The right mount looked fine while on the car, once removed, there was a huge crack on the under side of it. The new one raised the right side of the engine up by an inch or so. The upper torque rod bushing had cracks in it, the lower torque rod bushing was soft, easily moved by hand. The new one was noticibly stiffer. The hydraulic motor mount that is at the front of the car, left side of engine, was not leaking any fluid, so I did not replace it.

Thanks Scott. Where is the lower torque arm located - In front of or behind engine? Is it easy to replace it's bushing? Any press or special tools required? Thanks again -Daire

No special tools requred. I bought my lower torque rod at www.thevolvosite.com for 58 dollars. Just take off the old one and bolt on the new one.
