Turn indicators & washer fluid S80 1999

It started of with the turn indicators stuck on a left turn indication, Whichever position you moved the stalk the light wouldn't turn off. Shut the engine off and restarted and the left turn indicator came on again.

Looked at it the next day and the trun indicators wouldn't signal at all. Checked all related fuses and nothing wrong.

On a different note the wiper fluid wouldn't come out either. Added about hlf a gallon to the reservoir and still no luck.

Any ideas worth checking out before i call in for an appointment at the dealer.

Wiith the ignition switched off, remove the fuse for the "steering wheel module" for a few minutes, then reinstall it. If the turn signal and washer functions return to normal, have your dealer download "steering wheel module" software upgrade. I'm not sure which fuse you want but it's in the dashboard fusebox, marked steering wheel module.

HOLY DUSTBUSTERS! The computer is used for the turn signals and windshield washers? That's it. I now own the newest Volvo I will ever own. Perhaps I will look for a 245 in a couple of years, slip in a 289 V8 and just have fun.

Worked. Thank You.

Is the upgrade a free thing?

As for the steering wheel module, is this something a typical mechanically inclined person can do or this a volvo mechanic job? I think my 99 S80 has this problem and want to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thank you
