Defective digital dashboard clock V70-XC70 1999

Hello,

I have a '99 XC with 60K on the odemeter. The car has a "clock/temperature" display on the dashboard, just below the speedimoniter.

Recently, and without a set pattern, the clock has been re-setting itself to "12:00". The temperature setting (F) does not change. There is no evidence of a general power failure, as the radio does not have to be re-set using the security code. The sporadic re-setting can happen at anytime. Once the clock re-sets itself, it begins to mark time, i.e. "12:01, etc."

To fix this problem, do I have to replace the clock? Or can this problem be fixed in another way. I have been advised the clock, because it is attached to a grid is a $400 item. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Hugh

You keep asking the same question and no one is responding. Probably because we don't know how to fix your clock. It is losing power, somehow, and when the power comes back on it starts at 12. There is a loose wire or solder connection on the diode board, which means take off the dash and remove the cluster to inspect it.
Wish we could have been more helpful.

Klaus
