who makes the original front struts for 95 850 turbo and what type.. 850 1995

Can someone confirm or tell me who makes the front struts for my 95 850 turbo and whether they are touring or heavy duty specifications..

I have heard maybe BOGE, SACHS or Bilstein might be the original manufacturer but i am not sure..i see that companies are selling touring and heavy duty type of struts. Is it true that you have give them your chassis number to get the right struts..

Norm is right. 850's equipped with the factory "Sport" suspension option came with Bilsteins and were an inch lower in height. All others came with Sachs. If you look at the "Production Plate" indentification badge on your 850 (usually under the hood by the battery) and look at the 5th line down under the "Made in Sweden" column that is your chassis code. It will be something like "GG X A A MS" . That tells the dealer what springs, shocks and swaybars your car had from the factory. But you don't need that to go out and buy some Bilstein replacements. Check www.Tirerack.com or www.Shox.com for replacements.

I believe IPD list the Sachs as OE. Bilsteins are not OEM (cept mebbe the R models) and are definetly worth the money to upgrade.

Hi,

This is only my opinion, but having dealt with parts companies in the past I have found that generally you don't need the chassis number for common parts like suspension, I have found that main dealers generally always ask for these details as I think it makes their job easier in identifiying parts using thier parts system...

As a rule any decent parts outlet would have a listing for your vehicle, it isn't a "rare" breed and I would be suprised if they didn't have a listing for it, most of the time you will be offered a "standard" and a "sports" option, it depends on how you drive it, for the more modest driver then standard would do, for a more "sportier" driver then it's the uprated, higher spec ones...

AS I am in the uk it's hard for me to give anymore info, I could ring my local store and they would give me some choices, but that might not help your case, unless of course they are much cheaper!!!! but I have found that most car-parts are much cheaper in the US...

Regards
