missing fog lights 850 1995

I have a turbo 850 I bought that looks like its prewired for fog lights. The lights them selves are missing. Are there any good known alternatives to going to the dealer and buying oem replacements? I'd ike to get your guys' opinion on a set of lights you have installed and wired to the existing power supply with out overloading the circuit protection. I realize I will have to cut and solder new connectors.

Thanks,

Juan

Hi
Did you get your fog lights. If not I have a set off a 1997 850 T-5 Iam selling with as many of the connectors I can get to. Let me know

Ron

The stock foglights are Hella 2.6" round halogen. If you don't mind spending the money the same lights are available in HID driving lights ($700 ?). The HID lights are not just for cosmetics, they are actually brighter than the stock headlights. http://www.rallylights.com/hella/Micro_DE.asp

Juan,

Just a suggestion--why bother with the fog lights? I have them on my 96 850T and have cycled them on in off in foggy and snowy conditions and see little difference or improvement in visibility. If you think they look cool to oncoming traffic, then maybe your project is worth the effort. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother (IMHO).

You're right John. They are only for looks. What is needed down there are some projector beams with about 100W bulbs with a very flat cutoff. But then people would have to be able to align them, and considering how typical Americans are about lights I am glad most for lamps are dull. Too bad, they could make a real difference, especially when the headlights are turned off to reduce glare.

Just remembering my old 2002 with Hellas undermounts installed. Turned fog into a tunnel which I could see through.

Merry Christmas,
Klaus

I've got a pair of Hella 550 foglights on my '86 240 that way outperform the factory fogs on my 850. And 550 kits are still available for about $90. Of course, the 550 lenses are big 4"x6" rectangles - would look kinda weird on an 850.

I have got the same message from an engineer at the Volvo development, he told me that the fog lights are ONLY a design feature... That was I statement I didnt expect! ;-) I was involved in a project where we considered removing the fog lights to get space for other components.
I have actually never used them on our V70
