Mileage V70-XC70

I've heard a lot about mileage in the city and highway. But what kind of city? Can somebody input about mileage in cities like New York City where traffic is bad. I get only 9mpg city and 20mpg highway here in the Philippines where traffic is always bad.

This is for both a 95 855 T5 and a 98 V70 T5.

Re: mileage input question You must have chosen your login name after your brains capacity for logic. How can anyone comment on your mileage(or anything else) without any data? Do you sit idely for hours in A citys regular jam-ups? Anyone who regularly sits in slow traffic in a city like NY with all its mass transit options is a fool. The trick anywhere has always been knowing when not to take your car. Getting back to the mystery you asked us to help solve; do you drive with a lead foot? Do you speed up to red lights then jam on the brakes? Complain about frequent brake jobs and lousey mileage,do you? Are you one of those people who upon finding one leaking shock absorber asks "Can't you change just the one?" How can we assess, say, the condition of your drive train? It's vague silly questions like yours which make covering ground on a forum additionally difficult. Sharpen-up, dude. Digs: 99 V70 base; 14K on my first brick

Hey Digs,

No flaming! Give opinions on questions not people, and if you have nothing good to say, please kindly refrain from comment.

Dinky,

Bad traffic=bad mileage, but when was the last time you replaced your 02 sensors? Those will slowly degrade and lead to ever decreasing fuel mileage.

BB

Thanks BB. O2 sensors replaced 3 months ago. No codes pulled. Been getting regular service. Sorry, but cannot escape using the car in the city. Have to bring kids to school and for now this is the only way. Also, I'm not a lead foot. Thanks again.

Dinky

Traffic must be a real bear. Might also be the gasoline, as it could be different depending on govermental regulations and such. The winter mix we use in the states contributes (in part) to the reduced fuel economy during colder months. The gas mix where you are could be of a much different variety.

I think, however, that you are basically just putting up with some rugged traffic.

Plugs, cap, rotor, wires done recently? Check tire pressure, any roof rack? tiny little things could maybe squeeze another mile or two per gallon out.

Good luck to you.

BB
