central locking not working 850

Hi all new to the board and volvo's so lot's to learn! Just bought a '94 850 wagon for a baby hauler and the central locks don't work at all. I checked the fuse and it looks fine. Any suggestions as to where to start looking next?

TIA

How about locking from the passanger door? try locking from the trunk too.
If you are able to lock from one of the above, then it could be the cable to the drivers door, got to physically inspect the wires.
If none of the above then you should check the central lock relay, unfortunately I don't have the location diagram with me. Should be somewhere under the dashboard below the fuses.

Doesn't work from any door.

Does anyone know how to identify and/or test the central locking relay?

What exactly happens when you lock the front doors from inside the car or with the key from outside the car?

The drivers door just locks and unlocks as if there was no central locking at all.

Cheers,

Hi,

Sounds like the "pumper" in the door has failed, what happens if you unlock lock the passenger door? if this unlocks and locks more than one door then the pumper in the drivers door is faulty, otherwise the whole system has failed, and I don't know about that...

My remote central locking failed so I just use the key now :-(

Too expensive to get volvo to mend it so I am going to buy an after market remote locking/alarm unit and forget about the factory fitted one...

Cheers
