P0116 ERROR CODE S70 1998

Have a 98 S70 GLT, 107K miles, b5354T, weather in the 30's, recently started getting the p0116 error code, water temp gage acting erratic, elec fan seems to be starting prematurely and staying on after the car is turned off. Had to start removing the 60amp fuse because battery was dying due to continuous operation of fan. Presently have fuse for fan off, I reset the engine code but came back after about 10miles of operation.

Where should I start guys, Coolant sensor switch , thermostat , fan relay etc?

Sounds like the thermostat is or has gone south. DIY with an aftermarket thermostat . Have you checked the fluid level in the cooling system. If low you will get early fan because of running hot and erratic guage readings.

Coolant level is okay, I will start with changing the thermostat.

Have the same code - had it reset not coming back .. yet.. been 30's lately as well...

Did changing Thermostat fix your issue?
