Oil Leak 850

I have a several droplets of oil whenever I park in my garage overnite. About 5-6 nickel to quarter size droplets around the middle of the engine block area on the floor. The car is a '95 850 turbo. Is it typical for turbo to drop this much oil on the floor.

What are potential fixes and causes of this leak.

a. turbo line o-ring
b. turbo weep hole

What are the symptoms of a rear main seal leak? How much oil?

TIA,
Lunchman

Hope and pray that it is the turbo line leak($$$) and not the rear main($$$$). The main will leak more on the driver's side.

Symptoms of a rear main leak is oil wicked all over the bottom of the engine. When doing the rear main seal, also need to have the flywheel bolts sealed as well. I would assume that whoever does this knows this.

From the description, a rear main seal leak would cause (uh, "wicked") more oil than the droplets I described. Typically I do not fill up the oil after the oil change, since the amount of oil is adequate for the next 3,000 or so miles. I do use dino oil.

I do not think it is a rear main seal (odds on that would be too many items going wrong too quickly). I will get it checked by the pros.

What about the turbo line oil leak-- how can that be corrected?

I've been having the same problem with mine. I've had oil leaks fixed only to have others show up. I've had the rear main seal replaced. The valve cover gasket and a couple of other things. I don't know where it is leaking now. Checked the oil last night and it is down a quart. I had the oil changed a few weeks ago.

I need to have the evap done...I have been putting it off for a couple of years at least....it hasn't held a recharge since the Spring and I am in Florida.

But....I still enjoy driving the car.

Have you checked the manifold breather tube? It is a black plastic tube that runs down from the oil fill cap. Just pull it off and blow into it. If it is restricted, you may have too much pressure and cause the seals to blow.

So if you do the hose-blow test and it is restricted, how do you fix the problem?

You will have to remove the fuel inj rail and follow the hose to it's connection down at the bottom. I believe it is just a pressure fitting and can be pulled out of the block. Someone suggested an oil disolving cleaner on this site once, poured down the hose and then change the oil. I looked into the archives and found nada.
