door alarm (ding, ding, sing) going off while driving 850

Has anyone else had this problem? is the sensor on the door hard to get at? Is that the first place to look? The light at the kick panel comes on as well. Reclosing the door turns it all off until I get on it or hit a pot hole.

door alarm (ding, ding, sing) going off while driving 850

I had this problem for over a year, it was driving me nuts! Just about ready to rip into the door or under the dash to take out the dinger when I read the manual and found that Fuse #17 (10A) controls the key reminder and seatbelt warning light.

    No cost and happy

If I giggle the door lock mech with the door open it seem to activate the ding. Time to pull the door panel and tighten things up as usual everything gets loose on a 850.

door alarm (ding, ding, sing) going off while driving 850

had this happen to me on '94 850. after pulling door panel and playing with door lock for hours, i pulled the kick panel door light trying to find the bell. checked wires on it and reassembled light, have not heard ding since then. this idea dawned on me after hitting potholes and watching light and bell flicker on and off. try this first much easier than door panel

I just about guarantee that the microswitch in the door latch mechanism is going. I had the exact same thing last summer and teh administrator on Bay 13 supplied teh info and even part numbers. Generally, the whole latch is replaced, but you can actually buy just the tiny microswitch and replace it with a little soldering of wires into latch wiring harness. That is what I did, and I'd say I spent better part of three hours between disassembling door, wiring the new switch into harness, and reassembling (first time for me, and would be perhaps two hours now). The microswitch alone was $44. mail order from FCPGroton. Go to Volvospeed.com - Bay 13 and I think there is some write up on how-to as well. FYI, there are two different microswitches in that latch, the other is for the alarm, I think.

    Luck,

Open the door and lift up on the plastic piece on the latch, letting it click into place. If it clicks firmly into place, then your door is not closing all the way, and you will have to move the catch on the door sill. If not, then you will have to remove the lock from the door and replace the spring/plastic (not a fun job when it is cold).

I dont understand. There are 2 clicks it can make depending how far back you push it? It also goes off when I floor it. Loose wire??? Thanks!

The same sort of thing happened to me once but the door dinged only when I pressed the brake pedal--took me quite a while to figure that out; thought I was going crazy. . . Somehow a wire got crossed. Easy fix (at least that's what my mechanic said/did). . .
