Is there a handheld OBD II tool that reads Volvo proprietary codes?? 850 1996

I've done a little looking in the forum archives and on the Web and haven't been able to find a solid answer on this one. If there is there is such a beast that is under $150 I'd like to know about it please. Otherwise I'm leaning towards the Equus/Innova 3100 to read the "generic" codes.

I dont have a laptop so the laptop+required software option is not one I can do.

I have both the Equus 3100 and the Actron 9135 and I like the Actron better. Easier to read, easier to use, made in the USA instead of Taiwan like the Equus. The more expensive reader/scanners are not necessary because the 850's ECU doesn't support most of the stuff. You can find an Actron 9135 on Ebay for around $100 or so. Just my two cents worth.

    Hi Scott,

I believe the proprietary codes did not start until MY 99. I just picked up the Equus 3100, and from what I can tell it should do the job. There are quite a number of sites about ODBii that will provide you with good info also. Do a search on Google and also check out www.volvospeed.com forums. There is a pinned post regarding the P codes.
