I'm considering a 850 wagon. I own a 93 240 and understand their particular problems. What is best year of 850/V70. Wagon/sedan. Turbo or not. What is the 850's weak points etc. Point me at a web site for same. Thanks Ed

    If you are considering an 850, you need to check out www.volvospeed.com. That site has a wealth of information on FWD Volvos. Bay13 is the repair section with detailed instructions on how to repair and maintain your FWD Volvo. It also has a section for RWD, but it isn't doesn't come close to what you can get here on Brickboard.

    Do a search through the archives here--many previous threads on things to look out for in 850's. Generally people recommend a 96 or 97 and I would definitely recommend getting a turbo.

      I agree on the sources but defer on the Turbo, they are a lot of maintenance compared to the plain jane GLT or base.

      To answer your basic question...check the A/C thoroughly. Fixing this sucker costs $1000 and I'm not kidding. JUst do a search on evaporator on this site and you will see lots and lots of entried on flawed design. Good news is you are in good company. YOu will get lots and I mean lots of FREE advice here from very astute owners. Very intelligent people read this post and you will definitely get good help
