Stay with 18's or downgrade??? C70 1998

I seem to have ran in over my head here. I currently have a set of ADR Design Veloce rims on my car (which i love by the way), however, i recently poped one of my tires. I have nankang NS-II tires on them and they are very hard to find, plus they are not cheap. You're probably wondering why i am telling you this, sorry for dragging on, but i am considering downgrading to 17" rims. the ride is very stiff on the 18"s and i feel every bump in the road. Is it the wheels & tire combo that i have now with the ADR's and Nankangs or is that just what it's like on 18"s? What do you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance!!

As Klaus said, if you want to look cool, buy another tire.
If you want your tires to last more than a few thousand miles, and not have your car and your spine shaken to bits, go for the 17" wheels and tires. There's probably some teenybopper with a large allowance who'll be glad to pay you more for the eighteens than you'll pay for a set of good 17's at the junkyard plus your tires.
Unless you're into really risky driving, BTW, the Michelin Hydroedge is a decent all-weather ride, quiet, and not terribly expensive; also has a helluva goodmileage rating. I just put a set on my S70 a few months ago, and am clam-happy, including driving in a sudden 20" snow and the aftermath.

The larger the wheel the smaller the sidewall, the smaller the sidewall the less the tire can absorb shock - hard ride. Just like teeni boppers, the smaller the pants, the better the look, but they loose a lot of comfort!

If you want to look cool, buy another tire.

Yep...I basically agree that for a c70, 18's- even 17's are pushing it. You must be on 35 or 30 sidewalls for 17 and barely 25 on 18!!! Now that is harsh!! Definitely rid yourself of the 18's, and if you cant get a good price on the 17's ditch the size and just opt for the 16's.Remember 15's are stock so on 16's you could get away with 50 sidewalls..Still cool for a Volvo plus your girlfriend beside you will be much more comfortable and likely to be on your side.
Whats inside is more important here than what is outside ya know!
