Ignition Key spins around S70 1999

Half of the time when I try to start up, my ignition key spins around like something is broken inside. I hold the steering wheel off of the stops to get the key to work. Does anyone know what is broken, will it get worse (not work one day) and if it could be covered under the "Certified" warranty? THANKS, MH

    Mine did it also, and was covered by the Volvo Certified warranty.

    MH,

    Very common failure (replaced mine at 75k miles), and it will get worse. If you're handy you can replace it for the cost of the part which is approx $110 U.S., otherwise the dealer will charge a couple hours labor at the current going rate.
