I have searched the forums and have yet to find what I'm looking for. I have a cassette player with cd changer controls. No cd changer currently installed. I would like to install a GPS system and also have CD playing capacity in the car. I am debating the best way to do this. I can either install the Alpine CHM s630 cd changer to the original head unit, and install a seperate on-dash GPS system like a navman, OR I can get a combo double din unit like the Eclipse that has navigation and a cd player built in. I d like to make my determination based on what it would take to remove the factory head unit and wire an after market unit into the existing amp and speakers. If anyone has a clear wiring diagram and component location guide for the stock stereo, please let me know.

Hi Juan,
From my experience, it's probably better to install the Alpine changer and
keep the GPS seperate. I sourced a 6 disk Alpine changer, VolApl adapter,
and cable thru the internet for total @$100 bucks Canadian. Installation took about 2 hours. (A Volvo 6 disk changer - made by Alpine was $240.00 used.)
You need to have the VolAlp to reverse the pin order from OEM Volvo to Alpine,
even though the head unit,(SC-810/812/etc.) is made by Alpine, since Volvo didn't want us using after-market changers. GRRR!
As for the GPS, that's up to you...

Where did you find that cd changer so cheap?!!

ebay - I got the cd changer for $9.50 USD, the cable
was buy-it-now price of $3.00, and the VolAlp I got through
a Brickboard member who helped me out with questions I had
for installing.
