front end rattle S80 1999

I have 95K on my '99 S80 T6 and just starting getting a rattling noise coming from the left front end. When I am traveling on a side road with normal small bumps and dips, the noise is the loudest. I brought the car to a local mechanic and he could not find the source of the noise. He said the strut looks ok and every looks normal. Any ideas would help out alot, since I really don't like going to Volvo. Thanks

    Commonly, the top strut mounts, right or left front, become noisy but do not appear defective. Have both replaced if you can't find the problem.

    I had the same thing coming from the drivers side rear.
    It turned out to be a loose emergency brake cable that
    allowed the shoe inside the rotor to rattle going over
    bumps - (very annoying).
    Have your mechanic put it up on the hoist and strike upwards
    on the wheel in question to simulate going over a bump.
    If the rattle is heard, then that is likely your problem.
