Headlight adjustment (up/ down) V50 2005

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the headlights up or down? I need to raise them up a little bit. It does not seem as apparent or easy as on my other Volvos. Not sure if it matters but I have the Xenons.

Thanks, Tom

Headlight adjustment (up/ down) V50 2005

Just had a headlight aim issue with my 2004 S60R with the Xenon lights. While in for service they downloaded a suspension software upgrade. Lights were then directly down in front of the care - almost useless. Dealer had to instaall another software upgrade to fix the headlight aim. Sounds like all electronicly controlled. Now back to normal.

Good point on the software issue- makes me not want to pry in there not knowing what I am doing. Thanks, I am checking with the dealer.

Headlight adjustment (up/ down) V50 2005

Hi Tom: Although my avatar shows my real Volvo passion, I do own a 2004 XC70 with bixenon lights. I also found the low beam cut-off too low, but had the dealer do the adjustment under the 12 month adjustment period. So, why not ask your dealership to perform the adjustment - that's what you've paid them to do? Once adjusted, I hear the bi-xenon will self-adjust if you're changing the car's attitude! I'm afraid this may not be a simple do-it-yourself adjustment and I'm certain if you damaged something, Volvo would not cover it under their warranty. Now I'm much happier with the adjustment, so you can follow the same route.

Thanks for the reply. I probably will have Volvo do it as it doesn't seem easy.
I will probably have to pay because the need is self inflicted. I had the sport springs added to the car. Since it lowered the car slightly,.... Anyway when I finally get my first service I will just have it done - even if they charge it couldn't be all that much. Thanks again, Tom

If the dealer installed the sport springs, they should have also re-aimed your lights. Part of the job!

Check the owner's manual. I haven't seen a V50 yet, but the 850/70 have a round stick straight up and down behind the light. A phillips screw driver will turn it.

Thanks, I guess I should have stated that I read the owners manual and that it isn't in there. Agree on your assessment. I have a 98 S70 T-5, and it is very simple and easy to figure out and do with a screw driver. On the 50, because of the way the hood tapers, the headlights are in the fenders practically. I am not sure I have even found the adjuster, much less how to do it.
