Mass Air Flow Meter(MAF) Replacement. Where to buy S80 2000

Hello, I just took my car to the Dealership and had the codes read. They said I need a new MAF. This is an easy swap from what I can see. Where is the best place to purchase this part. The dealer wants 285 for it.

As you have nothing to loose, try cleaning it first.

Level 1 would be to spray it with some electrical contact cleaner, e.g. from Radio Shack. Level II would be to take it to a jewelry store or repair and put it in an ultrasonic cleaner. It's not likely to have a real long life thereafter however. I would think there is a new MAF in your future - likely at a lower price than that if you shop around.

Remove the MAF, and find the wire MAF element--I've cleaned them on MBenzs and BMW's. Spray with carburator cleaner, and gently wipe off with a Q-tip or clean soft cloth.

Many European vehicles' MAF's cannot tolerate the oil from K&N filters. Usually the problem arises after one cleans the filters and then is a bit too overoiled--the oil will then coat the MAF wire. It cooks off then the wire is read as "out of specs" by the computer and the OBD error is then generated.

Clean the MAF wire, and throw away the K&N filter!
