ETS Issue S70

Well it's finally happened after 110,000 miles. The ETS light came on during a 200 mile trip last week. I had been noticing that the engine was running a bit rough at highway speed - ever so slight hesitation, but on a regular basis. When I reached my destination and turned the ignition off, the engine sputtered for a few seconds before coming to rest. The light has come on once more since that time with the same symptoms. My question is this, is the dealer my only option? Any aftermarket or non-OEM options to consider? Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that but 110K mi? That's damn good from what I have been reading on this forum. Yeah, I saw the part for about $500 on fcpgroton's website.
I wonder how much the dealer would charge to "recharge" the computer?

My independent mechanic suggests that he run a diagnostics test to confirm what I'm fairly sure to be the problem - especially given the milage. He says that he can do the repair w/ software download for around $800.00. I'm debating about having him do it or the dealer. The dealer will likely charge around $1,100.00, but at least I'll get the most recent software upgrades. Is this a logical thought process or should I go w/ the indy?

You can get the ETS at www.fcpgroton.com, and replace it yourself, but you would still need to get the car to a dealer or indy with Vadis for them to update the software, so the car recognizes the new ETS. You'll save on the part, but I'm not sure what the going rate is for the update.

I paid $25.00 for the software update at the dealer in Oklahoma City, OK

Great price, but it should probably be free, if there were any justice.

        Still, not bad at all.

The software "upgrade" cost me $33. The throttle body, #8644347 is $551.59. Labor is $255. Have a nice time getting screwed!
