2000 XC transmission flush V70-XC70

I looked into doing a transmission flush on my 2000 XC ~ 56,000 miles.

1. How many quarts are required to flush this transmission?
2. What type of fluid is used by Volvo/ or any other reputable independent. I'm not sure that I want to go with a synthetic.
3. NTB - National Tire and Battery has a transmission flush for up to 15 quarts for 89.95. My dealer quoted me ~300. A local independent quoted my ~50 to replace the fluid in the pan(he said it would replace ~3 quarts.

Does the service through NTB sound like a good dealer?

Thanks in advance,
Joel

I have just had transmission fluid changed at the dealer. I paid $280 to have it changed, but I not only prefer to go with Volvo synthetic, which is quite expensive, but also the dealer uses a total flushing machine, which also makes the process more pricey but also more thorough. If you do not use the flushing machince, you can replace about 50% of your trany fluid. I guess the question is whether it is worth it to you. I think that paying $280 is somewhat excessive, but I do want to know that when I have my fluid changed that I have close to 95% of fluid replaced and not 50%. I guess this is me.
