Winter Mode Flashing and Lambda sign is on 850

My Winter arrow is flashing now and the Lambda sign is on...It happened after entering a restaurant parking entrance, where the snow had not been clear yet and after parking, I was going to turn the car off and these signs went off. Anyone know the cause and cure for this?

Winter Mode Flashing and Lambda sign is on V70-XC70

Most probably it is the PNP switch, which is a piece that goes on top of your transmission box. This part has a number of contacts inside and when it is very cold, the grease inside it gets hard and it will not work properly. If that happens it is a sign that you may have to replace it.

For now, try this: Turn your car on, let it warm and step on the brake. Then move your gear shift all the way from 2 to park at least 15 times. Do it slowly but steadily. This may clear the contacts inside the switch. You will have to clear the codes on your OBD-II.

My mechanic pulled a 2-2-2 code from Electronic transmission a-1 socket indicating a break in solenoid S2 circuit. What might this mean? Dash has up arrow flashing in sync with lights on centre console (econo- sport mode Switch). Car seems to be running in "limp mode".
