What is that thing in my trunk? C70

I don't know how many Volvos this applies to, but on my '99 C70 there is a long narrow gray plastic tray on the trunk floor on the right side right under where the tool kit is located. What is it for?

    It's another storage compartment. For ropes or Bungee cords or a a warning triangle or frisbees.

    Throw it away if you put in a full-size spare, because both won't fit.

    I have the same thing in my '98. It is used to store the folding triangle shaped emergency road safety reflector. I use mine to store four road flares-they fit perfectly in there.
