coolant leak on pass. of radiator housing 850 1994

Last week the low coolant light came on in my '94 850 so i checked the reservoir and topped it off with 50/50 till it was above the min. line. Wasn't seeing any coolant on the garage floor at the time but now there is a rather obvious puddle directly below the pass. side of the radiator. The coolant appears to be coming out of the plastic cover that is part of the fan because there is coolant all over the little plastic ridges going down the side. Is the radiator shot or is there a connection of some kind under the plastic shroud? BTW the hose above this area is dry and not leaking. Thanks

I had the same problem a few years ago.
I replaced the radiator with a genuine Volvo radiator. This was suggested by a non Volvo repair shop. The there are two bolts on the car that mount the radiator to the car that must match.

It's a pain to remove radiator. The radiator is removed from the under side of the car. That's why the A/C condensor is attached with flex hoses.

    Good luck

    Hi Patrick,

The plastic side tanks are known to crack, especially at 236,000. Not bad at all!! You can get a replacement from www.fcpgroton.com for about $200. Not to bad to replace from what I understand, of course if you have a turbo, there is a bit more to it.
