Hello! I have had my new S40 for only one week. This morning I listened to my radio in the car on the way to the gym. It worked fine. I got back in the car one hour later and now the radio does not have any volume! When I tried to play a CD, it says "Paused". In the manual it says that happens when you lower the volumne. It appears that the volume does not work at all.

Has this happened to anyone? Any solutions. I was not listening to CD's at all today so I am not sure how it ended up in "Pause" mode.

I have had for the most part the same problem. I got a so called "softwear upgrade" or known to me as a recall and that didn't work. It's been in the dealer's twice! Today the volumn started to go up and down on it's own. I called the dealer again and they are saying they don't have a soulution yet as it is too early in the game and I guess not enough people have complained! Basically we are stuck and Volvo doesn't care. I have also had the cable in the drivers door disconnect so I couldn't get out of the car unless the door was opened from the outside and now the washer for the headlamps don't work!

The 2001 was MUCH better.

Good luck with the radio as it doesn't seem like a resolution is in our need future!

Bonk yourself on the forehead.

You must have PUSHED the volume button IN to cause it to pause.

Push it in once again to UNPAUSE it.


That's what my radio does.

we have heard of this complaint from s40 and v50 drivers, volvo is working
on the problem.

Turns out it did start working again (maybe it was that I pushed it in?) but then I had a new problem where the volume button worked but none of the radio stations were coming in. Add to that, I could not get any of my CD's out. Everything was stuck. I left it alone, came back and then everything worked fine again. ???
