850 '94 trip computer display dead 850

Hi
Today I have replaced the battery in my '94 850.
And now the trip computer display is completely
dead.

I can't read anything from LCD (or whatever it is),
but that small red light on the right to the display
works fine.

Is there any way to check what's wrong before
doing all that work connected with the dash removal ?

I'd like to know what to buy.

disconnect and reconnect the battery

You could try my highly skilled approach when my display was dead. Took my hand and hit it as best I could. Damn thing been working since!
