Transmission Inop 850 1994

My car will not move in ant gear. I had a problem with the car changing gears. In the morning, the car would not shift gears as I was driving and the tachometer would peak out. I usually drove the car a few miles in 3rd and then shift it into Drive. Took it to a transmission shop, they stated they could not find the problem and recommended dropping the transmission. I decline and continue driving it but last night the car started but would not move in any gear. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    Get your PNP switch replaced before dropping all the money on a new transmission. A year or so ago I had a problem shifting gears when it was cold and my car wouldn't drive right until it warmed up. My mechanic was skeptical, but I figured a $100 dollar part was a small price to pay if it worked. I had the PNP switch replaced and have not had a problem since. If you want more details on my exact problem let me know.

    You now need a trans. Pretty common story there. I have seen quite a few through my shop that do just what yours has done. I have heard that a new gear position sensor will fix this but that has not been my experience with it. Sorry to hear about your situation.
