removing strut X-nut 850 1996

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to replace my struts myself. One part of the procedure I'm wondering about is how to remove the X-shaped nut that holds the strut mount. I know that IPD sells a tool for just this purpose, but I'm wondering how folks who have done this job have gone about removing this nut. Thanks.

I bought the tool from Volvo to remove this nut. The Volvo tool allowed me to torque the nut to specified torque value.

When I did my strut mounts I was concerned about this also. I agree with Irollturbo a channell locks works fine it's not that tight. or you can wack it with a chisel and hammer counter clock wise.

I used some channel lock pliers. It wasn't the prettiest, but it worked.

Large crescent works well. The "groove" in 1 jaw accepts 1 leg of the X and it grips nicely.
