Rear shocks replacement 850

I need to replace my rear shocks on my 97 T5 station wagon. Is it difficult? Can I do it by myself in my garage or do I need special tools. Also what shocks should I buy? I appreciate any suggestions. And finally I went to FCP Groton to get them, but do I need shocks with Nivomatas or without it. I just do not know.

Thank You very much. You have been a great help.

    Rear shocks replacement 850

I wouldn't just assume you don't have Nivomats. These are self adjusting and really don't need replacing unless the back end of your wagon is beginning to sag or they're leaking. If you go to IPDUSA.com you will see a picture of what they look like then you can compare with what's on your car. They may be expensive and I've been told that it's reccomended replacing the springs also, but once done they will last for years.
    Good Luck,

    Rear shocks replacement 850 1996

Last summer I replaced my rear shocks on my 96 850 Turbo wagon with OEM shocks (Boge). They're fine, and not too expensive. I don't think your car has Nivomats at all -- and you surely wouldn't want them now! Very $$. Last, this is probably a job for a mechanic. Good luck.
