Radio reset code V70-XC70

I am trying to reset my radio with the code that was in my manual. However it is not working. Am I doing something wrong? I turn the power on and when the radio reads code I enter my code and all I get is the EEER. After I enter the code, do I need to press another button to get it to take? Thanks for any help!
Happy Easter!

Are you sure you have the correct code? All you should have to do is key in the code and then wait a minute.

Radio reset code V70-XC70

Now that you entered the wrong code more than twice you have to reset the radio. You will need to leave the radio on for 2 hours, just turn the key to position 1 and turn on the radio after 2 hours it will reset and show code instead of eeee. On the sides of the radio are two release handles, they are flush. if you push them in with a small screwdriver they will release and then you can pull them to release the radio, pull it out about 7 inches and you will see white information sticker on the top of the radio with a part # and a serial #, write those down and go to your dealer, they will get you the correct radio code for your radio and write it somewhere safe.

Hopefully you can help me with a radio code question: I want to replace my SC-710 am/fm/cassette with an 816 am/fm/cassette/cd (from ebay) but seller doesn't have the code. Can/will Volvo dealers obtain and release code for the new unit? If not, any ideas? Thanks.
