Fuel Line Cover Falling Off -- Anyone else have this? S80

Just wanted to see if anyone else also had this experience...my car is a 2001 S80 2.9:

A while back the plastic fuel line cover under the car (plastic piece about 4 feet long that covers the fuel line between the gas tank and the engine area) came off and was dragging on the road. I took it to the dealer and all they did was snap it back in place. I suggested that they should replace the clips that hold it in place but they told me "the clips are fine".

So last week when I get under the car to do an oil change, I see that the cover has fallen off completely and is now gone (lost on the road somewhere) and the rubber fuel line is hanging down almost dragging on the road. A real disaster about to happen. So I tape it up with duct tape and bring it back to the dealer. They put a new one on, this time with new clips, and charge me 70 bucks for the privledge. And they say it is not covered under my extended warranty, that I must have "hit a rock or something" to knock it off. Ridiculous. And the fact that it fell off before didn't help.

A large piece of the car falls off and it's not covered under warranty. Is this the way for a car company to stand behind its product?

This is so typical. These dealerships will admit to nothing! What ever happened to a handshake and customer satisfaction. They are working themselves out of jobs and they don't either care or even know it.

They will never agree with any know problem suspension,trans,electrical...ect). They even downplay the recalls. I'd rather them tell me the facts and say too bad you own it then say "Wow, a bad ball joint. We rarely get those in"

I do as much as I can to my fine looking lemon but even "me-types" are forced to these smug service departments to be completely let down.

I've never placed too much value on buying a car and getting service after the fact but when considering buying a volvo you HAVE to factor in a very questionable after experience.

Sorry for venting but I think its worth noting the "experience" for the unsuspecting volvo owner.

I have personally replaced many of those. Mostly on S60/80 and the new V70. They are falling off of the XC90's too, and to a lesser extent the earlier 70 series and 850s. They are held on with plastic clips. It does not take much to knock them loose.
